Mowing For a Cause

By Susan Sweeney Smith

The Cranberry Lake North Shore Hub is pleased to announce Mowing for a Cause, a local fundraising effort by Rodney Smith Jr. to support the community .

Rodney will meet us at the HUB later in April to mow our lawn and help spread the word of his outreach program – he and his board encourage young people across the country to become volunteers through free lawn mowing for senior citizens, veterans, the disabled, single moms and anyone in need. Kids who become volunteer lawn mowers win t-shirts for completing a certain number of lawns and after 50 receive a brand new lawn mower so they can continue their service to their neighbors in need. His work is inspirational and you can follow him on Facebook at Rodney Smith Jr.

Junior and Tina Davis at Mountain Gate Plaza Star Lake NY and Jackie and Kevin Woodcock from Turn Key Construction will work together to collect bottles for Mowing For A Cause and we’ll give Rodney a check when he arrives and mows our lawn (we do hope we have some grass to share at that point!)

Please drop your bottles and cans off to Junior and Tina at Mountain Gate Redemption on Route 3 between Star Lake and Cranberry Lake. The bottles can be dropped off or Jackie and Kevin will do pick ups every Sunday after April 5.
