By all accounts, Wanakena saw its biggest July 4th celebration this year with a parade that celebrated everything from the area’s first responders to Smoky the Bear and Sasquatch. Of course, it was the annual duck race—a fan favorite of locals and visitors alike—that drew hundreds to the shores this little section of the Oswegatchie. Proceeds from this year’s duck race go to building the new community dock on the river. Many thanks to Otto’s Abode, Black Waters Café, and all the organizers and volunteers for a fun and festive day!
