Rain Doesn’t Dampen the Boat Club Picnic

By Halsey Bagg

The 2023 CLBC Community Picnic was again open to the public. Originally, it was to be held on July 29 from 11am to 2pm at the Community Center Pavilion. However, due to inclement weather the picnic was moved to the CLFD Firehall.

Mark Leroux came to the rescue and helped open up the fire station. Randy Young, the Picnic Director, set up the food tables and barbecue in the main bays while the firehall was set up for a presentation by the guest speaker, Dierdra Sorrell, CEO, Clifton Fine Hospital. Her presentation about the renovation and construction of the hospital’s Emergency Department was very informative and well received by the audience of approximately 50 people.

This year a special invitation was sent inviting the fire department volunteers.
Randy Young outdid himself by making smoked pork loins that were served as sandwiches. Also provided were hamburgers, hot dogs, ice tea and water. CLBC members were asked to bring a dish to pass and BYOB.

Deb Roberts set up a CLBC table making available the new membership directories, boat stickers and for sale a collection of past t-shirts and navigation maps. It looked like everyone had a great time visiting with one another.
